Day 29 Captiva 2019

Sunday, March 3
Al woke me about 7:30... we had coffee and pastries and left for Sanibel Farmer's Market about 8:30.  There were more people than last week but we got closer parking at the library.  We bought the usual produce, cheese, and some flowers. We drove to Over Easy (restaurant) but it was too crowded so we went to Sanibel Café., only a 10 minute wait.  Al had his usual Lox and Bagel platter.  I had quiche of the day-crab, spinach and cheese-very good! Crust was perfect.  Ordered with Parmesan tomatoes.
We then went to Pond Apple Trail but used the entrance by Matzaluna Restaurant.  Parked in their parking lot near the street and we were just a few feet from the trail.  Just a few birds...lot of mottled ducks in pairs, cormorants, gallinules, blue heron , tri-colord heron, snowy egret, and great egret feeding together. Spotted a green heron in grass, but the exciting sighting was 3 Red Headed Ducks swimming in the larger pond.  Rare sight!  Also saw the green iguna again. Just happened to capture it in a picture of sunning cormorants.

After our walk, we stopped at Jerry's for chips, tonic, and just a few items.
Spent afternoon on the porch. I walked to beach about 6:15 for 6:30 sunset.

Dinner tonight was Grilled Scallops from Timbers Seafood Market, fresh green beans, coucous, arugula salad and roll. Al grilled the scallops to perfection.
