We have not visited Captiva Island since 2019 because of mobility issues but our hearts are full of great times and memories of our days there. It's fun to revisit Captiva through this blog and photographs.
I am adding movie videos that I made of our stay on Captiva Island in 2019 so that I can share. To view video, if you open this in email, please go to my blog by clicking the link below and the click on the arrow for each video.

Day 16 on Captiva
Monday began with the sighting of a lot of birds from the porch as we enjoyed our early morning coffee. This was the most birds we have seen at the cottage since we arrived. There were several cardinals, red-bellied woodpeckers, doves and a gnatcatcher. I manage to capture a few photos through the screens which I will share even though they were not that great.
Video of Cardinal:
We had lunch under the gazebo at the pool watching the eagles as we ate. We enjoyed the afternoon swimming, napping and reading by the pool until it was time for drinks on the porch. I finished the book Maude and Al finished Sex, Lies, and New Money.
We walked over to the beach to watch the sunset around 6:00. It was a beautiful sunny day and ended with a beautiful sunset.
Taking a lazy way out, I prepared a frozen dinner of P.F. Chang Orange Chicken-White meat chicken is paired with carrots, water chestnuts and edamame glazed with a spicy orange sauce and served with rice and egg rolls(also frozen).

Day 12 on Captiva Post 1
Photo of the day made on the beach at 8:07 am.
After a cup of coffee, I took a walk on the beach to collect shells since there was low tide early this morning preceded by heavy winds yesterday. This usually means good shelling, so I went out about 7:15 just after sunrise at 7:08. I was so intent on looking for shells that I almost missed seeing the eagle on the right about 20 feet from where I was. I quickly opened my camera and managed a few good shots before he flew away.
I had a good collection of shells from my walk including a lot of conches, fig shells, calico scallops, whelks, one tulip and one junonia. There were several dead fish washed up because of the Red Tide effects.
More Photos from morning walk:

Day 28 on Captiva
Al, Jack ,and I were up early to see the 6:30 am sunrise over the bay.
Jack and Loy took an early walk and stopped at the Sunshine Grill for breakfast. They were both making photographs of the early morning sights. Jack got some great sunrise photos and the neighboring Osprey in the tree and flying.
Al and I also walked up to the rocks at Blind Pass and back down to the beach to the guest house.
Video made looking down from the bridge at Blind Pass:
Photos of the beach area:
For dinner we walked to nearby Lazy Flamingo about 5:00 arriving before the crowd. We ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell, fried oysters breaded and fried to perfection with fries, cocktail sauce and lemon, fried prawns, served with more fries, cocktail sauce and lemon, and caesar salad with mesquite-grilled grouper, served with flamingo garlic bread. We shared all dividing the dinners on 4 plates ...like having a feast of seafood. Enjoyed with our choice of beer.
After dinner we walked across the street to watch the sunset just as it was setting and then walked back to the guest house as the sky darkened for the night. This was a relaxing and fun filled day.

Afternoon was spent at the beach on another beautiful day,
one of the prettiest and warmest of the week.

Note: Al's New Phone arrived at 1:30 today and he very concerned about learning how to use it as well as his last one. The operating procedures and use are very different. We are going to give it a try but he is ready to return and get his old model back.

Day 38 Captiva
Our stay here will be ending soon...too soon. This is our last Monday. I tried to catch up with some email and posts this morning. Soup and sandwiches for lunch. Great afternoon at the beach.....waves are really pounding today which brought the surfers out ...tried to capture in video:
Was great birding on the beach today. Great blue heron was here today....first to see one on the beach this year...usually regular visitor in past years. Captured these pictures:
Today we went to Traditons on the Island, the restaurant at the Island Inn which has been recently renovated and is now managed by restaurateur Andrea Mucciga whom we have followed around the island first at Bellini's on Captiva , then Riviera on Gulf Drive, then Dolce Vita on Periwinkle and back on Gulf Drive at Traditions. Traditions on the Beach has been completely renovated and added a full bar and lounge area and has a wonderful Gulf view.

We shared a Caesar salad and Al ordered flame grilled veal chop served with porcini mushrooms and potato gratin. I enjoyed veal with lemon, capers, and artichoke served dauphinoise potatoes. Al had creme brulee with caramel crust for dessert. After dinner, we enjoyed dancing and after dinner drinks.
