Captiva Trip August 2003

August 23-30, 2003

Al retired and his last day was Friday the 22nd, We stayed the week at Captiva at Chateau Blanc in the guest house.  Ella had moved back into newly remodel house. Great week visiting DDWR and spending time on the beach.  Enjoyed most breakfast and lunches on the porch. Had Sunday brunch at Hungry Heron and also breafast at Amy's Easy Over. Lunch one day at Island House (later became Doc Ford's). Dinners out at Island Cow, McT's, Twilight Cafe. Sanibel Steakhouse, and Dolce Vita, Spent several evenings at the bar at Dolce Vita for the music and drinks. Andre surprised us one evening with Crystal Champagne in celebration of Al's retirement. Limo picked up on our return at Cleveland airport=the same one we took last Saturday.

Captiva February 2003 Trip

We stayed in Captiva February 22- March 1, 2003, at the Miville Guest House. 

I created this photo album with the pictures we captured there. 

 Yvonne and Tom came for a visit the last week of our stay.

Captiva Trip 1989

 August 27- September 3, 1989

Our second trip to Captiva Island was August 27-September 3, 1989.  We stayed at South Seas Plantation in the Bayside Villas. Al had ordered flowers and Asti Spumante that were in the villa when we arrived.   We rented a Gray Lebaron for the week and spent most of the week at the pool and driving through Ding Darling Wildlife Reserve. We ate mostly on Captiva at Chadwick's (SS), Bubble Room, The Madhatter ****, Captain Al 's(SS), and Bellini's and had breakfast at Sanibel Cafe. Ate most of our breakfasts and lunches in the villa. Outstanding meal at The Madhatter. Not impressed with Bubble Room but everyone said we had to try.

First Trip to Captiva February 1989

 Feb 4-Feb 12,1989

Our first trip to the west coast of Florida was in February 1989. We stayed at the Comfort Inn near the causeway going over to Sanibel Island. Al was attending meetings at Yoder's so that is how we ended up in Ft. Myers. We flew into Ft. Myers airport and rented a Red Lebaron. We visited the Edison House, Sanibel Island and Captiva Island and drove through Ding Darling Drive and love seeing all the birds. We also spent time at Bowman's Beach. We had some great lunches at Oyster Bay (Ft. Myers), Chadwick's, and Lighthouse Cafe (Sanibel) and wonderful dinners at Gulf Shore, Veranda, Mike's Landing, Harbor, Melting Pot(fondue), and Nutmeg House (Sanibel).
