We were up early at 6 for coffee and pastries. We headed to Sanibel Farmer's Market at 8:30. Was not as crowded as last Sunday and again, it was nice to not have dogs everywhere. It was pleasant to shop with out so many people. We bought tomatoes-cherry, Roma and beefsteak, lettuces, jalapeno peppers, corn, strawberries, zucchini, lemons, guacamole and more.
We ate breakfast at The Island Cow...good timing at 9:30. No wait. I had one egg poached served with cow spuds, toast and fresh fruit (melon not ripe). Al had the special 2 eggs, 2 Pancakes, 3 sausage links, spuds, grits, and fruit. I ate his grits. Breakfast served with basket of muffins.
Great Breakfast!
We stopped at Periwinkle Shops at 11:00...but not open until noon. We shopped at Jerry's--wine, milk, coffee, pastries, ginger ale, Pepsi, chips, crackers. We drove through DDWR on the way back...saw an alligator at second pond. Lot of ibis and other birds feeding....low tide. More than 50 blue winged teals and lot of feeding willets.
For dinner Al grilled perfectly cooked steak served with corn on cob, green salad with cherry tomatoes and radishes.

Day 33 on Captiva
Today we took a trip to Ding Darling around 10:00. There was a lot of traffic on the drive.....a lot of bicycles........a lot of birds feeding in the distance.....not so many up close to the drive.
We did not take many pictures but we did photograph some Ibis feeding along the walk at the dike.
The best photo of the day was this shot made by Al of an alligator near the end of the drive.
Cecilia, this picture is for you!
After our drive, we went to Sanibel Café for lunch. Al had a Huge crunchy Fish Sandwich with lettuce, tomato and onion on a Kaiser roll with coleslaw. I had Shrimp salad with sliced tomato, melon, and lemon-poppy seed muffin. Great lunch and we took home enough fish for another lunch.
Next stop was Bailey's General store for mussels and a steak and more provisions. Rest of day spent as free time....to do whatever we each wanted.
Dinner was Steamed Mussels with Italian sauce over bed of pasta served with green salad and French Bread. Nice ending to our day.
