Day 39 Captiva 2019

Wednesday, Mar 13
I took an early walk on the beach about 8:00.  There was one Great Blue Heron feeding on the beach but not many other birds at that time.

 Al and I both went to the beach for awhile at 11:00.  Saw a kestrel hawk and lot of boats in the gulf.

We had a lunch of mussel salad, chicken tenders, french fries, iced tea. (cleaning out the freezer and fridge?) We went to the post office about 2 and stopped at Santiva General Store for fresh pastries and a WSJ...store has lot more in stock than last year ...new owners.

I went back to beach about 3...hardly any one out...very hot.  Joined Al at the pool.

Dinner tonight was Bertolli frozen dinner of beef and broccoli.  Nothing to get excited about.
After dinner we went to beach for sunset at 7:30....double treat sunset with dolphins.

After enjoying a beautiful sunset with birds, boats, and a dolphin, we had tiramisu and coffee on the porch.

Day 37 Captiva 2019

Monday, Mar 11
Al was up early.  We went to beach around 8:30.   Sun now comes up at 7:30.  Fisherman was out again fishing with cages. Only a few birds along the shore.

Lunch was Egg Salad sandwiches with chips and iced tea on porch.  Went to Bailey's for bread and pastries and Timber's for Mussels and Snapper.  Worked on blog.

Flock of Ibis visited feeding on ground then made themselves at home around the pool.  Did not fly away when Al sat poolside.

I took another quick walk to beach....very quiet and hot.  Joined Al at pool until 5.

Dinner was steamed mussels in light Italian sauce over pasta, arugula salad, and rolls. Had Key Lime Lemon tart for dessert.

Day 36 Captiva 2019

Sunday, Mar 10
Time changed today which always messes up our lives .  Al was up early  but I was not up until 8 (really 7?).    We had coffee and drove to DDWR for a ride through the drive.   It was an overcast day and a cool windy morning.  Not many birds were spotted but captured a Yellow-Crowned Night Heron and some White Pelicans, Roseate Spoonbills, Blue Herons, Reddish Egret, etc.

Back to the cottage and out to the beach to sit awhile. 

Lunch was Corned Beef sandwich with chips.  No report on dinner tonight but we stayed in.
