Day 37 Captiva 2019

Monday, Mar 11
Al was up early.  We went to beach around 8:30.   Sun now comes up at 7:30.  Fisherman was out again fishing with cages. Only a few birds along the shore.

Lunch was Egg Salad sandwiches with chips and iced tea on porch.  Went to Bailey's for bread and pastries and Timber's for Mussels and Snapper.  Worked on blog.

Flock of Ibis visited feeding on ground then made themselves at home around the pool.  Did not fly away when Al sat poolside.

I took another quick walk to beach....very quiet and hot.  Joined Al at pool until 5.

Dinner was steamed mussels in light Italian sauce over pasta, arugula salad, and rolls. Had Key Lime Lemon tart for dessert.

Day 39 on Captiva

Today we had some Free Play time so I made a card for some challenges posted here.   Al enjoyed time on the porch reading and surfing the web.  For brunch we had eggs with lox and onions and fresh tomato slices and orange juice.  We spent the afternoon at the beach from about 1:00.   This was by far the best day....perfect weather and sun.  Even the birds were aware of the wonderful day and more than ever were sunning on shore.   Al counted at least 150  Willets gathered together and we saw the first Ibis on the beach since we have been here.  What a Wonderful afternoon at the beach!

We enjoyed dinner at the Pollack Diner having Chicken Piccata with Mushrooms and Capers served on Pasta and with Arugula Salad and Hot Rolls.  Only 3 days left before we start home on Saturday,

Day 24 on Captiva

Today Al went into Sanibel for his Monday Massage....he looks forward to this as it seems to give him some relief from his shoulder aches and pain.  I stayed home and worked on some cards in my makeshift studio.  The day is sunny and warm, with a cool breeze.

We were visited by a flock of Ibis ( about 25) feeding on the grounds.  We quickly grabbed the cameras and made some photos as they strolled the length of the property:

After a lunch of Turkey Sandwiches,  we settled in at the beach with books for the afternoon.
For dinner we had Orange Roasted Salmon with fresh corn and green salad.  This was a great recipe...you roast slices of orange and onion with herbs for 25 min at 400 and then add salmon and  pour on a mixture of orange juice, lemon juice, honey and seasonings .  Bake at 425 for another 12-15 min.  I am posting this recipe so I will remember for another time.
