Day 3 on Captiva

Tues, Feb 4, 2014

Again, Al was up earlier than I was and had coffee waiting for me when I arose.  He enjoys sitting with his computer on the porch doing surveys, checking emails,  and surfing the web.  We had a very large pileated woodpecker visit this morning in one of the nearby trees. I served breakfast of grapefruit,  poached eggs on toast, steak (leftovers), and orange juice on the porch.

We went down to the owner's other rental house about 5-6 doors down the street to check out the eagle's nest on the island.  There is one young eagle in the nest and one of the parents flew into the top of the tree while we were there.

We spent part of the afternoon sitting on the beach.....not much activity other than a group of Willets hanging out on the beach and the Thriller, a very large 55'  motor yacht that tours the gulf,  coming by.

Dinner tonight was at Lazy Flamingo.  We sat at the bar and watched the sundown through the window.  We shared a dozen ice cold oysters on the half shell.  Al ordered Mesquite grilled ribs with coleslaw and fries.  The ribs fall off the bones and are soooo good.  I had peel and eat shrimp with cocktail sauce and we shared our dinners to have the best of both.  Enjoyed with Blue Moon Beer.
A great day for just relaxing and being in the sun.
