Day 12 Captiva

Very cool today. This has not been a week to spend on the beach. Spent the day reading, blogging, reading, doing surveys, making cards, eating, and napping. I will let you determine which activities of the list that Al did and which I did.
I served lunch inside...not on the porch today.....homemade egg salad on croissant with crab chowder (opened a can).  Nice lunch on a cool day. Mailed some Valentine Cards at the local post office...the one that opens only 4 hours a day.
Went for an early, casual dinner at Doc Ford's Rum Bar and Grille...one of the more popular and busiest spots.  Love their fresh oysters on the shell. They won first place in our contest for oysters last year....we tried oysters everywhere on the island last year....were on a quest to find the best.  We of course shared some oysters on the half shell. Al ordered the calamari salad- lightly battered calamari tossed with mixed Everglades greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, a sweet and sour vinaigrette dressing, topped with crispy  wontons and I had the chicken taco salad - crisp romaine lettuce, Cuban black beans, cheddar and Monterey cheese, topped with grilled chicken and spicy salsa, with toasted tortilla chips .  Both light but large salads. Of course I had to have one of the famous Island Mojitos.
